"Go on take the money and run:" How to Stay Positive as a Movie Theater Usher.

1. MONEY. MONEY. MONEY.

2. Getting Paid to Exercise! The first semester I worked as an usher, I was pretty good, and only got the occasional ICEE. The "work out," avoiding the popcorn and sodas and one PE class all culminated into me losing 15 pounds and becoming a bit fitter. :)

3. It's temporary. Make this a mantra:  "If I work hard I'll be promoted to box very soon!"

4. FREE MOVIES. A pretty good incentive always.

5. I don't know about you but I got paid training and I get paid lunch (30 mins). NOT too shabby.

6. They're good about working with my college schedule and good about giving me days off if I'm good about giving advance notice.

Hints:

Ask for help if you can get it!!!

Take breaks every hour or so. It'll help.

Stay hydrated! Bring and Eat healthy snacks for energy and to stay focused.

Work quickly and don't freak out over getting every single kernel. Get the big stuff and the big spills and get out.

Listen to music if you can get away with it.

It's a tough job really and physically demanding, especially, if like my job you cover 16 auditoriums completely solo! But there are perks and it is far from the worst! :)

Again: MONEY! ;)

NOTE: I worked as a film crew member for AMC Theatres from July - Dec 2013. I returned this month and I am an employee of AMC once again. I do not represent AMC Theatres opinions nor do they endorse me. This blog represents only my opinions and thoughts. :)
